Youths learn science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and how it is important to mental and financial growth.
In this program, youths who experience problems with incarcerations, go through training exercises on how to reintegrate back into society and school.
Youths who experience substance abuse issues are placed into group treatment recommendations for their substance abuse to receive support and therapy.
Our young people are educated about taking care of their physical and mental well-being, such as getting the proper rest and diet.
Youths are educated about stress and the damage it does to their well-being and brain.
In this workshop, youths talk about gangs, conflicts, etc. Youths are educated that conflicts are rooted in violence, which is a disease that can be reversed through the right knowledge and education.
Youths are encouraged to seek their
G.E.D, high school diploma or college diploma. The youths are educated to believe in themselves and receive all the assistance and guidance they need in SONSOP to obtain their educational goals.
Young parents are educated on how to properly interact with their child. Many children experience conflict and trauma in the household, and parents educated in these areas will make youth lives healthier psychologically, physically, and emotionally.
Youth are taught effective communication skills and learn that good relationships with other people can greatly reduce stress and anxiety. Also, they are taught to improve social support, which is linked to better mental health. This technique builds confidence in youth to positively interact with others and develop strong communication skills that increases the chance for
successful relationships.
Youth are taught restructuring and reframing exercises using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Distortion Exercises. These exercises are designed to change negative thinking and build creative positive thinking. Also, youth are taught to face their fears and to develop more positive thinking.
Youth are taught business skills, developing businesses and how to
become independent business men and women.
Youth are taught etiquette and character building. Further, Youth are
taught to respect people and learn to socially interact.
Youth learn the basics of cooking, baking, prepping food and food decor etiquette to become more independent and get a job in the food service industry.
Youth with have a variety of different creative workshops from acting, dancing, film production, painting and learning how to mix music, etc. Through these workshops they will learn how to express themselves and have a creative outlet in these endeavors.
Youth who are interested in working as a plumber, electrician or other skilled craft as a tradesperson or artisan, are supported to find a program and complete the program.
Youth with or without special needs are taught how to gain their I.Ds, driver license, medical insurance, transportation, housing, and career opportunities. During this youth are taught resilience to overcome obstacles in their path.
Youth with or without special needs are taught how to properly present themselves in interviews, mannerism & appropriate attire. Also, Youth learn how to job search, research job ads, and job hunts. Also, youth are taught to get proper sleep and to develop the mind-set for job readiness.
Youth learn to identify the purpose of reading, using efficient silent reading techniques for relatively rapid comprehension, learning how to skim the text for main ideas, vocabulary development, etc.
Youth will choose from basketball, tennis, soccer, baseball and football, etc. to become part of a cohesive mindset of a team that pushes and grows with each other to work together.
